Thankful...

Thanksgiving...my thoughts go back to last November, I remember thinking to myself, "surely by this time next year we will be pregnant, or even have a new little one in our family"...and here we are, another year later, not pregnant, no baby...I've tried very hard during this season of our lives to not make milestones out of our sadness, I don't want to be that person...however, in the back of my mind as different times of the year roll around, I'm reminded of the times in the past where I was so sure, that by "next year" we wouldn't still be here...

So, here we are, a few weeks out from Thanksgiving and I'm thankful, even though we are still here, still hoping, that maybe "next year"... I'm grateful for this time in our lives.
Italic
God has been showing up for us in little ways and big ways...the little ways seem to mean more to me lately because it reminds me that He cares about even the smallest of wants/needs that I have. He has been faithful. Im thankful for a wonderful husband, who loves when I think he shouldn't and holds me on the hard days and does the dishes without being asked (its the little things)...I'm thankful for our wonderful families and for my parents who have been there for us in ways I can't repay them for, who miles away will listen to me cry on the phone when I don't have the strength for words...I'm thankful for God's direction in our lives, and the peace we have obtained when following His voice. Thankful for the grace God has given us for this season, and grateful that one day we will look back with hearts that are full of gratitude for what He has done...

From our home to yours, Happy Thanksgiving...May you always remember, that in every season, there is always something to be thankful for...

Old Fashioned Homemade Chocolate Pie

Old Fashioned Homemade Chocolate Pie

Ingredients

How to Make It
  • Bake pie crust until golden
  • Combine first 4 ingredients in a sauce pan; set aside.
  • Combine milk and egg yolks.
  • Stir milk and egg yolks into mixture; add butter.
  • Cook over medium heat, and stir constantly until mix thickens and boils.
  • Remove from heat; stir in vanilla; spoon into pastry shell.
  • You can put a meringue on top if you want, but this is only optional using the egg whites from eggs used for pie. Or if you are like me and you don't like meringue, you can make homemade whip cream with heavy whipping cream for the top.
Ive been on the search for a while for a really good recipe for chocolate pie...Ive tried a few that were alright...but this pie was delicious..perfect in every way.

I'll definitely be making this for the holidays.
