Old Fashioned Homemade Chocolate Pie

Old Fashioned Homemade Chocolate Pie

Ingredients

How to Make It
  • Bake pie crust until golden
  • Combine first 4 ingredients in a sauce pan; set aside.
  • Combine milk and egg yolks.
  • Stir milk and egg yolks into mixture; add butter.
  • Cook over medium heat, and stir constantly until mix thickens and boils.
  • Remove from heat; stir in vanilla; spoon into pastry shell.
  • You can put a meringue on top if you want, but this is only optional using the egg whites from eggs used for pie. Or if you are like me and you don't like meringue, you can make homemade whip cream with heavy whipping cream for the top.
Ive been on the search for a while for a really good recipe for chocolate pie...Ive tried a few that were alright...but this pie was delicious..perfect in every way.

I'll definitely be making this for the holidays.

Things will not always be like this....

"One of the most poisonous of all Satan’s whispers is simply, “Things will never change.” That lie kills expectation, trapping our heart forever in the present. To keep desire alive and flourishing, we must renew our vision for what lies ahead. Things will not always be like this. Jesus has promised to “make all things new.” Eye has not seen, ear has not heard all that God has in store for his lovers, which does not mean “we have no clue so don’t even try to imagine,” but rather, you cannot outdream God. Desire is kept alive by imagination, the antidote to resignation. We will need imagination, which is to say, we will need hope. " ----John Eldredge

I can't think of how many times I have thought to myself, "what if things never change"...and if I'm honest, I have struggled with believing that as the truth... It seems lately that everywhere I turn there are people I know that are going through rough things...(like real, life-changing, hurtful, hard things)... I myself have been struggling with some discouragement with our infertility issues...and the biggest fear of all in all of these things is wondering if it will ever get better, will it ever change....so when I read this quote today, I wanted to share it...because like me, I know there are others that need to be reminded that God is on our side, and the enemy wants nothing more than for us to feel the opposite...however, beyond the pain and the discouragement in our hearts, we know He is true.

I Needed This Today...

There is a light
It burns brighter than the sun
He steals the night
And casts no shadow
There is hope
Should oceans rise and mountains fall
He never fails

[Chorus:]
So take heart
Let His love lead us through the night
Hold on to hope
And take courage again

[Verse 1:]
In death by love
The fallen world was overcome
He wears the scars of our freedom
In His Name
All our fears are swept away
He never fails

[Bridge:]
All our troubles
And all our tears
God our hope
He has overcome

All our failure
And all our fear
God our love
He has overcome
All our heartache
And all our pain
God our healer
He has overcome

All our burdens
And all our shame
God our freedom
He has overcome

All our troubles
And all our tears
God our hope
He has overcome

All our failures
And all our fear
God our love
He has overcome

God our justice
God our grace
God our freedom
He has overcome

God our refuge
God our strength
God is with us
He has overcome
